“On April 2nd, your Google+ account and any Google+ pages you created will be shut down, and we will begin deleting content from consumer Google+ accounts. “This is what was said by Google regarding Google+!
A little bit of history
Google Plus (also known as Google+) is a social networking platform from Google. It was launched with a lot of fanfare as a possible competitor to Facebook. The concept is very similar to other social networks, although Google tried hard to differentiate Google+ by allowing integration with all Google services, displaying a new Google+ menu bar on other Google services when you’re logged into a Google account, and much more. Google+ also has some specific jargon like the Circles, Check-ins, and more.
Progressive shutdown
In December 2018, Google announced the decision to shut down Google+ for consumers in April 2019. The Google team says that it is primarily due to the low usage of the network and big challenges met while maintaining a successful high-quality product that meets consumers’ expectations.
As early as February 4th, people were no longer able to create new Google+ profiles, pages, communities, or even events.
On April 2nd, all Google+ accounts and any Google+ pages previously created will be shut down and are going to be deleted. Photos and videos from Google+ on any Album Archive and any Google+ pages will also be deleted. The Google+ adventure is over!
What should you do?
If you are a brand or business that has a Google+ account or page, our Social Media department advises you to do:
-Download your content.
Photos, videos, and any content you posted on Google+ can be useful either for your archive, for future posts on Social Media, or your website’s future updates. In fact, many companies don’t have any valuable well-organized archive of their past events that are documented with photos, videos, and comments. This can be an excellent opportunity to start one.
-Redirect people:
You spent energy and time working on your Google+ account to create those circles and grab people’s attention on Google+; redirecting people to your other Social Media presences through few posts can be an excellent way to keep in touch with a part of your audience in Google+. Don’t expect to recover all your audience but posting several times the same message inviting people to your other Social Media accounts can help maximize the recovered audience.
You can download your content easily. Please find detailed steps here:https://goo.gl/VQswPV
Just make sure to do so before April!
