What is SEO?

SEO-Search-Engine-Optimization-2019

The chances are that if you own a business, no matter what size it is, you have heard the word “SEO.” Most modern companies know this term, but, unfortunately, too many of them are not aware of SEO and are not using this fantastic income driving tool.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is a kind of blanket term used for numerous strategies used to make a web page appear at the top of the Search Engine Results Page (SERP) in search engines like Google, Bing, or Yahoo.

SEO and Google

There’s no denying that Google has won the search engine wars over and over again. Google’s domination of the search engine market has led most brands’ SEO efforts to please Google’s multiple algorithms.

According to StatCounter.com, Google-owned more than 90% of the Search Engine Market Share Worldwide during the last year. In the United States, during the same time, Google’s share is around 87 % which still is a vast market share. That is why Google algorithms must be part of the equation when marketers design their SEO strategies for the American market.

To make it very simple, SEO involves selecting your target topics (the ones that may drive customers to your website), defining high traffic keywords, tailoring your website pages or blog posts to suit it, and then working very hard to get backlinks, authority, excellent user experience, and Social Media exposure. All of that, knowing that your competitors are doing the same thing at the same time with the same goals!

But this doesn’t mean that you should be discouraged because well-implemented SEO can take your business to the next level! So, is it worth the hustle, believe us.

Organic SEO

Organic SEO, also called natural SEO, is used to describe techniques used to obtain a natural placement on organic search engine results pages (SERPs). We say organic as opposed to paid.

Some examples of techniques used for organic SEO include, but are not limited to: link building, content writing, user experience optimization, page loading speed improvement, mobile-friendliness, and much more!

Paid SEO

You pay SEO for your brand when your business is paying the search engine to display your website for specific keywords and generally place it on top of the Search Result Pages ( SERPs).

For Google, it is called Google Adwords or Google Ads recently. Google Ads is Google’s paid advertising platform. With Google Ads, your business listing can be displayed alongside the natural search results when people search for specific keyword phrases in Google.
